Schoolgirl Jenna Gregory has moved
a step closer to her dream of skiing for Britain at
the Winter Olympics. The 14-year-old from Colchester
has secured a place at the British Ski Academy at
Chamonix, France, where the country's best skiers
are trained.
Jenna, a pupil at St Helena School, Colchester, is
in the top ten for her age group after coming fourth
in the English Championships and ninth in the British
Champion-ships last year. She will receive specialist
tuition during her six weeks in France before taking
part in this year's English and British Championships
in Austria.
"I'm really excited about going to the academy,"
she said. "In the British Championship I'm really
hoping to come in the top five and I'd like to do
as well as I did last year in the English competition."
Jenna, who lives in Old Heath, first took to the
slopes at the age of three and was racing by the time
she was nine. She has competed in races all over Europe
and trains at the dry slope in Ipswich.
