Firm's Big Job
- 7th July 2003
Colchester-based
Wallis Shipping has recently completed what it describes
as "one of the UK's largest freight forwarding
operations" to keep the lights of Jersey burning
bright.
A 650 tonne generator - needed as a backup for the
island's power supply - was despatched from the manufacturer's
factory in South africa to Southampton, then back
to the sea at Humberside before delivery to Jersey.
Stuart Gregory, managing director of Brunel Court-based
Wallis this week said: "This was one of the biggest
and most difficult cargoes we have ever undertaken.
I am delighted with the skill of our project team,
managed by Dominique Linch, and how they have ensured
this all happened with the minimum of fuss."
Wallis Shipping Services and its IT division, Dominion,
has just received a DTI SMART award of £45,000
to carry out crucial development work to it's export
management software Exportease. Dominion is one of
14 Essex companies to receive a SMART award in 2002.
