Shipping Contract Puts
Town on the World Stage - 29th July 2003
Colchester firm Wallis Shipping has just landed
a major contract to transport vital marine engineering
equipment across the globe.
The deal has been struck with the firm Alstom based
in Philadelphia, USA and will mean transporting 10
individual shipments of generators and control gears
for ships between Italy and Spain to the United States.
Managing director of Wallis Shipping, stuart Gregory,
said: "This is one of the biggest contracts we
have undertaken and will mean a dedicated service
from our staff for 12 months to enable the 10 shipments
to arrive safely at their destination. We are very
proud of this deal because the US division of Alstom
has come directly to Wallis SHipping to handle the
cargo which proves we are going places and putting
Colchester on the world stage as a shipping centre."
The first shipments for Alstom to the US will start
in the next few weeks.
