Wallis Shipping chooses
Colchester for World leader in contraceptives
- 24th March 2004
Leading Colchester freight forwarding firm Wallis
Shipping has chosen Colchester as the global, storage
HQ for the world’s largest voluntary organisation
concerned with family planning and sexual health.
The consignments of contraceptives and medical equipment
from the International Planned Parenthood Federation
(IPPF) will be shipped to emerging economies in West
and East Africa, South America and the Pacific Islands.
The aim of the IPPF is to provide education and choice
on sexual health issues for men and women.
By relocating the products from it’s Dunstable
warehouse to Colchester, Wallis Shipping hopes to
create new jobs in the Colchester storage facility.
Managing Director of Wallis Shipping Stuart Gregory
said: “We looked at a number of locations to
store the IPPF products but ultimately, Colchester
represented the most attractive option. The town has
excellent access to the ports of Felixstowe and Harwich
as well as good links to airports where the freight
will eventually leave the country.”
