 Colchester
Shipping Firm in Middle East Deal - 13th
October 2004
A leading Colchester shipping firm has just netted
a very large shipment for the Middle East.
Wallis Shipping is now involved in transporting 32
containers of seven metal presses from the former
Jaguar plant in Liverpool (now FORD) to Iran for an
Austrian client. The parts range in size from pieces
as small as nuts and bolts to seven piece s weighing
in at a massive 28 tonnes. While the plant was in
action, the machinery was used to press metal into
parts for cars.
This is the largest shipment Wallis has moved to
Iran for some years and it is an inspiring prospect
for the company’s Managing Director, Stuart
Gregory.
He said: “This is the largest project we have
done to Iran for at least five years and it is quite
exciting for us because there may well be more work
involved with them in future projects.”
Wallis is moving the parts out of Liverpool and Southampton
ports in four shipments. Mr Gregory added: “This
is a big consignment and we have had to be on hand
to make sure all the containers are secured and loaded
safely before they start their journey to the Middle
East.”
