Jaguar Presses Start
New Life in Iran - 1st December 2004
A Colchester shipping firm is helping to transport
32 containers of seven metal presses from the former
Jaguar plant in Liverpool now owned by Ford, to Iran
for an Austrian client.
For Wallis Shipping based on Brunel Way, Severalls
Park, it is the largest shipment to have been transported
to Iran in five years. The presses, which each weigh
28 tonnes, out of Liverpool and Southampton ports
are being shipped in four shipments.
Managing Director Stuart Gregory says: ‘This
is a big consignment and we have to make sure all
the containers are secured and loaded safely before
they start their journey to the Middle East.’
While at Jaguar the machinery was used to press metal
into parts for cars.
