Authorisation & Regulation
by The Financial Services Authority - 29th
April 2005
As part of the European Insurance Mediation Directive, with effect from 14th
January 2005, the Financial Services Authority (“FSA”) formally
took control of the regulation of the sale and distribution of general insurance
products. This affects the Marine insurance cover we offer to our customers
as an additional service.
We are very pleased to announce that Wallis Shipping
Services Limited are “Registered" with
the FSA and are therefore authorised to continue to
offer this additional service along with advice and
assistance on insurance claims and insurance for letters
of credit.
As a consequence of these new regulations our trade
association, the British International Freight Association
(BIFA) have amended their Standard Trading Conditions
to fall in line with the FSA’s new regulatory
powers. Wallis has adopted these conditions which can
be viewed on our website, www.wssl.co.uk/legal.htm
