Anchors Away!
- 31 October
2006
An international freight and logistics company based in Colchester has made an unusual delivery to Egypt.
Wallis Shipping, which offers services including all forms of international transportation and logistics and an outsourcing capability, recently transported eight anchors, each one weighing 12 tons, to the international port of Alexandria.
Stuart Gregory, Chief Executive of Wallis Shipping, said: “We pride ourselves on finding the best and most cost-effective methods of shipping goods. The anchors were an unusual load to carry, but they got to their destination in pristine condition.”
The shipment of anchors belonged to Italian-owned oil and gas company, Saipem. The anchors, which were manufactured in Sheffield, will be used for oil and gas vessels.
