Wallis Shipping Sponsors The Scally Rally Road to Rimini 2008 - 11 September 2008

Forget ‘Herbie’ here comes the ‘Scally Rally’. Robert Whiting, a Production Manager, who is based at a local company on Severalls Business Park joined forces with 2 colleagues and are about to set of on the Scally Rally Road to Rimini, Challenge 2008.

The event will be raising funds for Marie Curie Cancer Care & Mission for Seafarers, however individual teams are invited to gain donations and sponsorships for their own nominated charities. Robert’s team have chosen Great Ormond Street Hospital, they have set a target of raising £2000.

The rally involves one hundred vehicles (Bangers) which must cost no more than £100 Roberts’s team purchased an L registration Fiesta diesel for £50.00

 

 

 

ITINERARY

Day 1
Start - Port D’Angleterre Cite Europe to the beautiful city of Basel, which spans across 3 countries (Germany, France & Switzerland) (450m)

Day 2
Basel – Como, through the heart of Switzerland towards Bern via Interlaken and along the shores of the Mountains and Lakes. The challenge will then involve encountering some of the most famous Swiss Alp passes (Grimselpass, Furkapass & Passe de san Gottardo). On to Italy for the days finish around Lake Como just 30 minutes north of Milan ( 240 m)

Day 3
Como - Cortina via Stelvio, along the “King of passes” a road not be underestimated. (220m)

Day 4
Finish - Cortina – Rimini, stopping off in Venice then along the coast of the Adriatic to reach their destination in Rimini

At this point the cars will be scrapped and the team will fly back (unless they trust the car for the return journey!)
