Wallis' ski protégé retains his british championship title - 22 April 2009

Colchester firm Wallis Shipping is buzzing with excitement this month as its ski protégé, Ed Drake, managed to retain his British Men’s Champion title.   

Wallis Shipping, which specialise in global freight and logistics, has backed the leading British ski member for several years, investing in both his travel and training expenses.

Despite harboring a shoulder injury, Drake won two out of his four races at the Meribel ski resort in France, meaning his champion title was kept intact.

Whilst there, Ed competed in the Super Giant Slalom and Downhill races, both races that he has successfully completed before and ones that helped him reach his first championship title.   

Drake, 23, improved his world ranking this year by 100 places to be placed 47th in the world.  His next step is to compete in the 2010 Winter Olympics in Whistler, Canada.
